As part of his administration’s restructuring, President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday sacked five ministers from his cabinet.

News About Nigeria reports that the minister’s dismissal was made public in a statement by the special adviser to the president on social media, Dada Olusegun, on Wednesday.

The statement gave the affected ministers to be: Minister of Women Affairs, Barr. Uju-Ken Ohanenye; Minister of Tourism, Lola Ade-John; Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman; Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo; and Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim.

The statement also noted that the President also formally sacked the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Dr. Betta Edu.

Also, Tinubu appointed Sunday Akin Dare as Special Adviser to the President on Public Communication and Orientation working from the Ministry of Information and National Orientation.

The shake-up in his cabinet also includes the reassignment of 10 ministers to new portfolios and the nomination of seven new ministers pending Senate confirmation.

Additionally, Bianca Ojukwu, widow of the late Ikemba of Nnewi, Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, has been appointed as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, while Jumoke Oduwole was named the new Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment.

Recall that the President had earlier scrapped the Ministries of Niger Delta Development and Sports Development.

Announcing this in a statement on Wednesday, Tinubu’s special adviser on information and strategy, Bayo Onanuga, explained that “there will now be a ministry of regional development to oversee all the regional development commissions, such as the Niger Delta Development Commission, the North West Development Commission, the South West Development Commission, and the North East Development Commission. The National Sports Commission will take over the role of the Ministry of Sports. The FEC also approved the merger of the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy.”
