On Tuesday, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia sympathised with Nigeria over last week’s tragic tanker explosion that happened in Jigawa State which left many dead and several others injured.
News About Nigeria reports that the tragic incident, which has seen a sharp rise in the death toll, has now surpassed 170 fatalities.
Reacting to this tragedy, the Kingdom sent its condolence message in an official statement issued by the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Nigeria.
In the condolence message, the Kingdom conveyed its heartfelt sympathy to the victims, their families, the Jigawa State government, and Nigeria at large.
Speaking in the statement, Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Faisal bin Ibrahim Alghamdi, expressed the Kingdom’s support for those recovering from injuries and assured the Nigerian government and people of continued assistance.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Nigerian people during this difficult time, and we stand in solidarity with the affected families. We offer our sincere wishes for the swift recovery of those who were injured in this tragic incident and remain committed to supporting the people of Nigeria during this period of grief,” the embassy stated.
He also expressed wishes for the speedy recovery of those hospitalised and hoped for peace for the souls of those who had passed away.
Reacting to this gesture, the Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, appreciated the solidarity shown by Saudi Arabia during these tragic times.
“We deeply appreciate the solidarity shown by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. At a time like this, their support is both comforting and necessary as we navigate through this tragedy,” he said.
