Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, has celebrated the former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, on his 90th birthday anniversary, News About Nigeria reports.
Obi, in a statement via his verified handle on X on Saturday, extended his goodwill to Gowon.
He praised the highly respected leader for standing for love, peace and unity when others were on the other side of the divide.
He described him as an inspiration to the younger ones, adding that he was committed to preserving the peace and sovereignty of Nigeria during a challenging period in the nation’s history.
He stated, “I am privileged to join other Nigerians of goodwill to celebrate a highly respected leader and former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, on his 90th birthday anniversary.
“In a time of hate, you stood for love. At a time of strife, you stood for peace. At a time of division, you stood for unity.
