'Nigeria Does Not Need Tinubu, Shettima To Survive' - Atiku's Aide

Phrank Shaibu, Special Assistant to the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, commented that the absence of both the President and Vice President makes little difference, suggesting that Nigeria has effectively been running independently since their tenure began.

News About Nigeria reports that Shaibu said this in response to concerns raised by Nigerians as to why President Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima should both be out of the country at the same time.

Reacting to the concerns that there is a leadership vacuum, the presidency had said that both Tinubu and Shettima can operate from where they are.

The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, had stated that the President and Vice President are fully engaged with the nation’s affairs, even while they are away. There is no leadership vacuum in the country.

He further noted that all state organs are functioning as usual as the Senate President, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Ministers, and Service Chiefs are all in their respective positions, ensuring the smooth operation of the government.

Reacting to this, Phrank Shaibu, in a post on his official X account, questioned why Nigerians should be worried over the absence of Tinubu and Shettima, as Nigeria has been running itself since the duo assumed office.

He wrote, “The presidency is absolutely right! The president and his vice can be totally missing in action, after all Tinubu is busy savouring wine in France and shettima is off sightseeing in Sweden. Why would we worry? Nigeria has been practically running itself since they came to power.”
