Popular crossdresser Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, has denied claims of bribing human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) and his son, musician and activist Folarin ‘Falz’ Falana, to secure a presidential pardon.
In September, News About Nigeria reported that popular social media personality VeryDarkMan alleged that Bobrisky only served part of his recent jail term outside of official prison facilities.
According to the leaked video, Bobrisky reportedly paid N15 million to officials within the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to dismiss money laundering charges against him.
In the same video, VeryDarkMan also claimed that Bobrisky paid N10 million to Falana (SAN) and his son Falz in an attempt to secure a presidential pardon.
In response, a High Court sitting in Lagos State ordered VeryDarkMan to delete the defamatory comments and videos related to the Falanas from his social media accounts.
The court also ordered VeryDarkMan to pay a substantial sum of N500 million to Falana and his son, Falz, as compensation for libel.
In addition to that, Femi Falana and Falz issued a 12-hour ultimatum to Bobrisky to publicly retract and apologise for the alleged defamatory remarks.
Responding on Instagram, Bobrisky stated that VeryDarkMan should be held responsible as he was the one who posted the audio on social media.
“I Okuneye Idris aka Bobrisky didn’t give Falz or his dad any money for pardon. As a matter of fact no penny was given to them. Have said dis before and i will say it again.
“The person that published an Audio online should take fully responsible for what he posted in public.
“My lawyer will respond to any further information d public want to about dis ongoing issue trending on social media.”
