The Federal Government (FG) has stated that it is committed to ensuring smooth transit for commuters and drivers and will begin repairs with roads, News About Nigeria reports.
The Minister of Works, David Umahi, made this known in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Uchenna Orji, on Wednesday.
He noted that the federal government will begin with emergency repairs on the 7-kilometre stretch of the Lagos-Sango-Otta-Abeokuta road, adding that the road is a crucial route that has faced significant neglect in recent years.
He maintained that the federal government is committed to addressing the pressing infrastructure issues affecting commuters.
According to him, the repair initiative is part of a broader strategy under the ‘Operation Free Our Roads’ programme, aimed at enhancing the condition of federal roadways across the nation.
He also stated that motorists and residents have expressed frustration over the road’s condition for a long time.
He stated, “The road has been bad for some time, and the Federal Ministry of Works is bringing relief on the dilapidated sections in conjunction with the concessionaire.
“The Federal Ministry of Works, under the watch of His Excellency, Sen. Engr. Nweze David Umahi CON is committed to providing relief to motorists and commuters on all the federal roads nationwide.”
“Motorists and residents have long expressed frustration over the road’s condition, which has led to increased travel times and safety concerns.
“With these emergency repairs underway, the government aims to restore smooth transit for the thousands who rely on this vital route daily.”
