James Brown Lied About Visiting Bobrisky In Prison – FIJ Report

Reports have emerged contradicting earlier claims by James Brown, a fellow Nigerian crossdresser, that he visited Bobrisky during her time in prison.

News About Nigeria reported that Bobrisky, whose real name is Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, was sentenced to six months in prison in April 2024 for allegedly abusing the naira but was released on August 5, after serving only a fraction of her sentence.

James Brown had publicly claimed in June that he visited Bobrisky at Kirikiri Correctional Centre, sharing photos of his visit online, though none featured Bobrisky.

“I went to Kirikiri prison to visit Bobrisky to know if she is alright,” he posted.

However, a new report by FIJ suggests that James Brown’s claims were false.

According to a source close to James, the real reason for his visit was to see another inmate, Vindicate, who had invited him to collaborate on a song recorded from prison. The prison authorities reportedly supported the idea.

“By the time James visited, Bobrisky was no longer in prison,” the source told FIJ.

The source also questioned why James would lie about visiting Bobrisky, speculating it might have been for attention or “clout.”

The same FIJ report also claimed that Bobrisky spent only three weeks at Kirikiri before being moved to an undisclosed location, thanks to an “arranged situation” involving money.

According to a prison official, Bobrisky received VIP treatment throughout her stay, living in a special cell and being heavily guarded.

“She was guarded like a president and discreetly moved after three weeks,” the source explained, confirming that Bobrisky had indeed paid for the special privileges.

News About Nigeria reported that Bobrisky was released from prison on August 5 after serving a six-month sentence that was cut short, which began on April 12, for allegedly abusing the naira.

The crossdresser’s legal ordeal resurfaced on Tuesday after social media personality Martin ‘VeryDarkMan’ Otse shared an audio recording in which Bobrisky allegedly admitted to bribing Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officials with N15 million to drop charges against her.

Bobrisky quickly denied the allegations, branding the recording as “fake” and claiming that she never paid any bribe to the anti-graft agency.

In response, the EFCC summoned both Bobrisky and VeryDarkMan for further investigation, with EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede ordering an immediate probe into the claims.

Rapper Falz also appeared to corroborate part of the allegations, stating in a warning letter that Bobrisky had contacted him to seek financial assistance of N3 million for VIP prison accommodations, which he declined.
