'I Couldn't Afford Court Wedding' - Mike Bamiloye Recounts Early Days Struggles

On Monday, popular Nigerian Drama Minister and the Founder of Mount Zion Faith Ministries, Mike Bamiloye, recounted how he married his wife, Gloria Bamiloye when he had nothing, News About Nigeria reports.

Speaking in a post on X account on Monday, the pastor noted that his marriage journey has been a testament to God’s grace.

In the post, Bamiloye recalled how he and his wife navigated the early days of their marriage with little to no financial means, relying on the generosity of family, friends, and others.

According to him, he couldn’t afford to take his wife on honeymoon after they got married and was able to live in a house with her because his elder sister helped him rent the apartment.

The drama evangelist also shared how they couldn’t have a court wedding because he had to pay N170 to the registry.

He also appreciated his wife for how supportive she has been to him over the years, noting that she has never mounted any unnecessary pressure on him.

His post partly reads, “When I got married, I didn’t have any money to take my wife to honeymoon. We stayed in the house that we just rented. No Money for Honeymoon. Me, that it was my Big Sister that rented the flat for me so that I would not bring my wife to her house. Gloria and I went around to see where we could rent a Wedding gown and we got a place and told them we would come back with the money, before a Sister in our Ministry gave us the money to deposit for sowing a Wedding Gown.

“Me, that I took my wife to the Registry to ask about Court Marriage and they told us the money to pay for the event, it was a very small amount of money. It was around N170.00 (One Hundred and Seventy NAIRA). But we could not get the Money so we collected their forms and never returned with it because I could not get the money required. So we went to the Wedding without the Registry. So we never had Government Marriage Certificate until about Six years ago when and Embassy demanded for it, because we didn’t have the money for Court Marriage. But here we are sponsored by GRACE, I thank God I did not marry a lady who would put me on unwarranted pressures and unnecessary constraints. Glory be to God for GLORIA!”
