Edo 2024: Aiyedatiwa Felicitates With Okpebholo On Election Victory

Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the governor of Ondo State, has congratulated the Edo state governor-elect, Monday Okpebholo, and his running mate Dennis Idahosa, on their victory at the Saturday, 21st September gubernatorial poll.

News About Nigeria earlier reported that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday announced the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the election, having secured 291,667 votes.

His closest rival in the election, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), scored 247,655, while the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Olumide Akpata, secured 22763.

Reacting to this in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, on Monday, he lauded the people of Edo State for voting wisely.

Aiyedatiwa, who was the Chairman of the Election Planning and Strategy Committee of the APC in the Edo election, also appreciated the leadership of the APC under it’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje.

The statement partly reads, “I want to congratulate our party, the APC, Senator Okpebholo, and Hon. Idahosa on the well-deserved victory in the just concluded governorship election in Edo State. I join millions of our party faithful to give glory to God for granting us a peaceful victory to reclaim Edo back into the fold of the progressives, where it clearly belongs.

“I thank Mr. President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for providing the exemplary leadership that guaranteed a free, fair, and peaceful election in Edo, and I also congratulate him on the success of the party in the contest. I commend our party’s leadership, headed by the national chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, as well as the national and state campaign committees, for the efforts they put in to achieve the much-needed victory.”

The governor further expressed confidence in the vision of Okpebholo to change the face of governance in the state.
