Osun To Commence Implementation Of Minimum Wage Soon

Ademola Adeleke, Osun State Governor, has said that his decisions will align with the party’s constitution on the chairmanship crisis looming in the party, News About Nigeria reports.

This is disclosed in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Thursday in the state.

He stated that he is not with anyone but the constitution of the party.

The governor also noted that he aligned with the decision of the PDP’s governors’ forum on the matter.

“I stand by the Constitution of our great party, which spelt out the succession procedure in case of the exit of an elected chairman,” the statement reads.

“I also stand by the resolution of the PDP Governors’ Forum, of which I am an integral part.

“Our party must adhere to its Constitution at this critical time and at all times. That is the way to build a responsible political party.”

Earlier on Thursday, the PDP’s Board of Trustees (BoT) held a crucial meeting with the party’s National Assembly caucus to address the ongoing internal crisis.

The PDP has been plagued by infighting since the 2023 elections, with stakeholders criticising Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum for failing to implement reforms.

Also, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike’s persistent criticism of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the PDP Governors Forum has exacerbated tensions.

Recently, PDP BoT Chairman Adolphus Nwabara and Secretary Senator Ahmed Makarfi met with Wike in Abuja to discuss the party’s structure.

Attendees include Senate Deputy Minority Leader Lere Oyewumi, House of Representatives Minority Whip Ali Isa JC, and Hon. Pastor Ojema Ojotu.
