Power Supply Returns To Northern States After Blackout

The Federal Government has stated that it is committed to enhancing the sustainability of power supply across the nation, News About Nigeria reports.

The minister of power, Adebayo Adelabu, disclosed this while speaking at the unveiling of an advanced supervisory control and data acquisition system for managing the national power grid in Abuja on Wednesday.

He noted that the new system will go a long way in enhancing the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of the country’s power supply, thereby, positioning Nigeria for a more stable energy future.

He stated that the new SCADA system possesses a huge transformative impact on the power sector and supply in the country.

The SCADA system, according to Adelabu, provides real-time monitoring and control of the national grid, enabling operators to detect faults, manage loads more efficiently, and respond promptly to outages.

“This initiative represents not just a technological upgrade; it also symbolises our government’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of power supply across the nation.

“We are ushering in a new era in the management and operation of the national grid,” Adelabu noted.

“By implementing this advanced technology, we are taking a bold step towards addressing some of the issues holding the sector down.

“This is more than just a tool; it’s a key part of our strategic efforts to modernise our power infrastructure,” he stated.

He further noted that the SCADA system is part of a broader initiative under the Nigerian Electricity Transmission Access Project, aimed at modernising the nation’s power infrastructure and implementing smart grid technologies.
