Suspect Identified In Attempted Assassination Of Former President Trump

Temitope Ajayi, Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Publicity, has likened Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, to Donald Trump, calling him the “Nigerian version” of the former U.S. president.

Trump, the former US president, is seeking to win the 2024 American Presidential election in November.

On Tuesday, Trump and Kamala Harris, a presidential aspirant, engaged in their first debate.

The duo spoke on abortion, immigration, the economy, healthcare, and foreign policy.

In a snap CNN poll of registered voters and betting markets revealed that Harris won the debate, with some pundits declaring she handed the ex-president a “shellacking” and “smackdown”.

However, on Wednesday, Ajayi drew a comparison between Trump and Obi, stating that both politicians use negative language to describe the countries they aspire to lead.

Ajayi’s statement was contained in a post sighted by News About Nigeria on the X platform.

The presidential aide lauded Harris for setting traps that Trump fell for, convincingly winning the debate.

He added that the debate has exposed Trump’s weaknesses, adding that Obi and Trump, employ similar tactics to appeal to their supporters.

“Peter Obi is the Nigeria version of Donald Trump. Like Obi, Trump will use the most negative epithets imaginable to describe a country he wants to lead again just to make a point and rile up his base,” Ajayi wrote on X.

“Kamala Harris prosecuted Trump very well in their first face-to-face debate yesterday night. Kamala convincingly won the debate and left no one in doubt about his capacity.

“Vice President Harris knew Trump’s weakness and set traps for him. Trump fell for her baits. Both candidates have been fact-checked on their claims in the debate

“While Harris was reported to have made just one incorrect claim, Trump made 33 false claims in the same 90 minutes debate.”
