News About Nigeria earlier reported that the flood affected the State Government House, the Palace of the Shehu, the state secretariat, a teaching hospital, a Christian cemetery, and a zoo among many other houses and businesses that were submerged.
Speaking in a sympathy message to the Borno State Governor, Idris lamented the impact of the flood on the state.
He also described it as a devastating and unprecedented occurrence that Borno have not experienced in recent times.
The Governor’s sympathy message which was signed by his Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy, Abdullahi Zuru, reads, “It’s with sympathetic feeling, that critical government institutions such as the Government House, teaching hospital, Shehu of Borno’s Palace, the state secretariat, schools, and business centres were reported to have been affected.
“Although we in Kebbi have experienced similar unfortunate incidents, we share your grief, and we are deeply pained by the natural disaster.”
The Governor however encouraged Zulum to consider the tragedy as an unavoidable act of God, adding that God in his mercy would help the state and it’s residents to recover all they have lost.
He further tasked the President Bola Tinubu-led federal government to partner with Borno State, other state suffering from such disasters and relevant experts to curtail the annual flooding which is a big disaster and threat to the people.
