Benue: Governor Alia Appoints New SSG

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has approved the appointment of Aber Serumun Deborah as the secretary to the state government (SSG).

News About Nigeria reports that this is contained in a statement issued by Tersoo Kula, chief press secretary (CPS), to the state governor on Tuesday.

The CPS said the appointment takes immediate effect.

Deborah succeeds Joseph Alakali, the former SSG to Alia.

The statement said that Alakali submitted his letter of resignation yesterday, adding that he needed time to address personal challenges.

“Governor Hyacinth Alia has approved the appointment of Barr. Aber Serumun Deborah as Secretary to the State Government (SSG),” the statement reads.

“Barr. Aber, is a seasoned solicitor and arbitrator with a strong sense of initiative and excellent analytical skills.

“She is a team player with good interpersonal skills who always strives for excellence and aims to contribute positively to the success and growth of an organization.

“She aspires to work in a reputable and challenging environment that encourages professionalism.

“Barr. Aber is a graduate of the University of Jos and Nasarawa State University.”

Kalu said Alia believes Deborah will add value to his government, adding that he charges her to remain focused and align her work with his administration’s vision always.

The governor also asked her to always prioritise the interests of the state in her day-to-day official

Speaking further, the governor appreciated Alakali’s service, wishing him well and praying for strength to tackle the challenges he chose to address.

“In accepting the resignation, Gov. Alia expressed gratitude to Prof. Alakali for serving the state under his administration for a year and 3 months.

“He wishes him well & prays that the Almighty grants the former SSG the strength to tackle the challenges he has chosen to address,” the statement added.
