Tinubu Mourns Victims of NNPC Helicopter Crash Off Port Harcourt Coast

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sympathised with the families of those who lost their lives to a tanker explosion on Sunday in Niger State.

News About Nigeria reported that at least 48 people lost their lives after a fuel tanker collided with a lorry, which led to an explosion on the Bida-Agaie-Lapai road on Sunday in Niger State.

The Niger Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) disclosed that several others sustained varying degrees of injuries in the accident.

In a statement by the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Monday, the president commiserated with the families of the dead and injured victims.

He also sympathised with the owners of shops affected by the tragedy, while praying for quick recovery for those who sustained injuries as a result of the accident.

President Bola Tinubu commended the federal and state emergency agencies, as well as the FRSC officials, for their swift response.

He similarly commended the good-spirited Nigerians who mobilised to the incident scene to assist the victims.

Tinubu promised that he would continue to offer support in order to provide relief to those who were affected.

The accident occurred early Sunday morning, with several other vehicles also involved in the explosion, resulting in fires that affected the vehicles and killed a lot of cows.

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, while reacting to the incident, stated that it was an unfortunate one and sympathised with the families who lost their loved ones.
