Embezzlement: LP Urges EFCC, NSA To Investigate Peter Obi, Aisha Yesufu, Others

The Labour Party (LP) is set to hold its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting today, the 9th of September 2024, News About Nigeria reports.

The party disclosed this in its official handle on X on Monday.

The meeting will take place at its national headquarters, Utako Abuja, by 11 am.

The statement reads, “Coming Up Live

LABOUR PARTY NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL (NEC) MEETING. Venue: National Headquarters, Utako, Abuja. Time: 11 am.”

Earlier on, Abia State Governor Alex Otti stated that a conducive environment has now been created for peace to be restored in the Labour Party (LP), following the successful convening of the expanded National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting by stakeholders last Wednesday.

He stated that a wide majority of the members of the Labour Party, LP, supported the outcome of the meeting.

“Peace can be restored in the party. That was the reason for the meeting we held here,” Otti stated.

It is also worth noting that the party’s stakeholders had dissolved the Julius Abure-led National Working Committee (NWC) and replaced it with a 29-member caretaker committee headed by Senator Nenadi Usman at the NEC meeting.

The Abure group, however, kicked against the formation of the caretaker committee on the ground that the LP constitution had no provision for it.

But Otti insisted, “What we did was the right decision,” given that the term of the Abure-led NWC had elapsed since.

Today’s meeting will hopefully put an end to the crisis that has plagued the Party and propose the way forward for the Party.
