JusticeForChristianah: Adekunle Gold Condemn Student’s Murder

Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold has condemned the tragic murder of Christianah Idowu, a 300-level student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB).

News About Nigeria reported that Christianah was brutally killed after being abducted by 23-year-old Adeleye Ayomide, despite her family paying a ransom of N350,000.

Christianah, who was undertaking her industrial attachment at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), was kidnapped along the Ikorodu-Yaba Road in Lagos on August 19, 2024, while on her way to her internship.

Her abduction and subsequent murder have sparked widespread outrage, with both the local community and prominent Nigerian celebrities demanding justice.

Reacting to it in his message, Adekunle called on men to challenge harmful behaviours among their peers.

Adekunle Gold tweeted, “Men, true strength is not about staying silent but about standing up to your friends who abuse, rape, or demean women. Let’s redefine masculinity by holding each other accountable.”

Other celebrities, including Ayra Starr, Simi, and Chike, have condemned the killing, calling for justice for the deceased.

The Itaoluwo community, where Christianah lived, has been engulfed in grief and anger over her death.

The Nigerian Army arrested Ayomide in connection to the crime, and he has since been handed over to the Lagos State Police Command for further investigation.

The police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest, and investigations are ongoing as the nation demands justice for Christianah.

Sharing a photo of the suspect, he wrote, “23-year-old Ayomide Adeleye has been handed over to #LagosPoliceNG by 9 Brigade #HQNigerianArmy. The handover took place today, September 5, 2024, at about 1400hrs. Investigation is ongoing.”
