President Bola Tinubu has said that Hajiya Dada, the mother of late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, lived a life of legacy while she was on earth.
The President said this in his condolence message to the family of the late President over the death of their matriarch, Hajiya Dada.
Speaking in a statement released by his Special Adviser, Ajuri Ngelale, late Monday, the President extended his condolences to Senator Abdulaziz Yar’Adua, the people of Katsina State, and the many lives the late matriarch touched.
He prayed for the repose of the soul of the dead, adding that she would always be remembered for the support, peace, joy, and comfort she offered to many.
Tinubu eulogised the deceased, describing her as a woman of unwavering faith, who is filled with compassion and love for everyone who comes her way.
The statement partly reads, “Hajiya Dada, mother of the late former President, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, and the late General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua, passed away on Monday at a venerable age. President Tinubu prays for the repose of the soul of the deceased and affirms that the beloved and remarkable matriarch of the Yar’Adua family will always be remembered for the support, peace, joy, and comfort she offered to many. The President mourns Hajiya Dada, yet extols her legacy of compassion, faith, honesty, and good fellowship.”
News About Nigeria earlier reported that Hajiya Dada died on Monday evening at the age of 102 at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Katsina State.
She was a matriarch who is revered as one of the few women to have birthed top politicians in Nigeria’s history, including Umaru, a former President and two-time governor of Katsina State; Shehu, who was the ex-chief of Staff, Supreme Headquarters, under the military regime of former President Olusegun Obasanjo; and Abdulaziz, Chairman, Senate Committee on Army.
