Unknown gunmen have killed Samson Omoarebokhae, a senior special assistant to Blessing Agbebaku, speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly.

News About Nigeria reports that Mrs. Ivy Adodo-Ebojele, the special adviser to the speaker on media, disclosed the incident in Benin, the state capital, on Monday.

According to her, Omoarebokhae was killed on August 31 while on his way to Uhumora from Ozalla in Owan West LGA of the state.

The speaker’s aide said his principal was deeply saddened by Omoarebokhae’s death, adding that he promptly sent a condolence delegation and message to the family, offering sympathies for their tragic loss.

Odion Iruobe, the speaker’s chief of staff, led a condolence delegation to mourn Omoarebokhae’s death, which he described as a significant loss to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He added that Iruobe consoled the family, urging them to find solace in God’s promises of comfort.

Iruobe said the deceased was a loyal and trusted aide to the Speaker, adding that the Speaker vowed to exert all his influence to ensure the perpetrators were apprehended and brought to justice.

“Though it is a painful situation, we pray to God in His infinite power to give the family a reason to smile again,” she said.

“We pray to God to repose the soul of the deceased and give the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”

Responding, Elijah Omoarebokhai, a brother of the deceased, expressed the family’s appreciation to the speaker for sending a delegation to share in their grief.
