The Federal Government has unveiled the zero draft of the National Integrated Electricity Policy and Strategic Implementation Plan (SIP), News About Nigeria reports. 

The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, disclosed this while speaking at the presentation event on Wednesday in Abuja.

He noted that the policy will address the pressing challenges within the Nigerian electricity supply industry and set the nation on a path towards a robust, sustainable, and inclusive power sector.

Adelabu described the policy as a critical policy that is needed in the nation’s journey towards achieving a robust, sustainable, and inclusive power sector that meets the aspirations of all Nigerians.

He emphasised that the policy is the product of extensive consultations with industry experts, key stakeholders, and development partners, adding that its framework will not only respond to current realities but also anticipate future needs, ensuring that the power sector remains resilient and efficient.

According to him, the journey has been a collaborative one that was driven by the commitment to address the challenges within the Nigerian electricity supply industry.

He stated, “The policy is a critical policy in the nation’s journey toward achieving a robust, sustainable, and inclusive power sector that meets the aspirations of all Nigerians.

“The journey leading up to today has been a collaborative and rigorous process, driven by our collective commitment to addressing the pressing challenges within the Nigerian electricity supply industry.”

The NIEP-SIP is a comprehensive policy document that outlines strategic interventions across the entire electricity value chain, from generation and transmission to distribution and off-grid segments.
