IGP Appoints Rhoda Olofu As Force Secretary To Boost Diversity

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has made a new appointment to promote diversity within the force.

News About Nigeria reports that the IGP appointed Rhoda Olofu, a seasoned officer, as the new Force Secretary.

The appointment was announced in a statement issued by Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police spokesman.

This move aims to increase women’s representation in key positions and enhance the force’s efficiency.

Rhoda has an impressive track record and is the third female to lead the Maritime Command.

The police chief said it is committed to recognizing and utilizing diverse talents within the force, regardless of gender.

This decision aligns with global trends in law enforcement that value diverse leadership.

He added that the police force is evolving to meet the nation’s changing needs.

“AIG Rhoda Adetutu Olofu, a seasoned police officer with an impressive track record, has been appointed as the new Force Secretary,” the statement read.

“This move is part of the IGP’s vision to foster gender inclusivity and align with recent policy changes aimed at increasing the representation of women in key positions within the Nigeria Police Force.”

“This decision not only showcases the IGP’s commitment to gender inclusivity but also reflects a broader shift towards recognising and utilising the diverse talents within the force, regardless of gender, as it aligns with global trends in law enforcement that recognise the value of diverse leadership in enhancing community relations and improving overall policing effectiveness.”

Before her appointment, Rhoda served as the AIG Maritime Police Command at the Force Headquarters Annex in Lagos as the 20th Assistant Inspector-General of Police to hold the position and, notably, the third female to head the Maritime Command.

“As the Nigerian Police Force continues to evolve and adapt to the changing needs of the nation, the Inspector-General of Police reaffirms his commitment to the progressive development of the Nigeria Police Force and the promotion of gender inclusivity in all spheres,” Adejobi said.
