Delta State Celebrates 33 Years Of Existence

The Delta State Government has celebrated 33 years of existence as a state in Nigeria, News About Nigeria reports.

While expressing his happiness in how far the state has come, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori stated that his administration will collaborate with security agencies in tackling the issues of kidnapping, cultism, and other crimes in the state.

He stated this in his remarks at a Thanksgiving celebration at the Government House Chapel, Asaba.

He pledged to do his best to ensure that there is peace and security in the state, as this will drive development to thrive in the state.

He also stated that his administration will continue to invest heavily in infrastructural development, by investing massively in infrastructural renewal, upgrading the state’s healthcare institutions, improving the learning climate in schools, and assisting the poor and vulnerable through social investment programmes.

“On security across the state, I pledge to continue doing my best to ensure peace and security in the state. Only through sustainable peace can enduring development thrive in the state.

“My administration had continued to put the state ahead in terms of development by investing heavily in infrastructure development in all sectors of the state’s economy.

“In the past 15 months, we have demonstrated our resolve to keep Delta State ahead in all social and economic development indices.

“We are investing massively in infrastructural renewal, upgrading our healthcare institutions, improving the learning climate in our schools, and assisting the poor and vulnerable through our social investment programmes.

“We are also collaborating with security agencies in tackling the issues of kidnapping, cultism, and other crimes to ensure that safety and security of all residents in Delta State is guaranteed.

“Like I promised Deltans in my MORE Agenda, we will continue to enhance peace and security; we are doing our best because when you look at what is happening in other states, you will know that we are trying as a state.

“I know that there are lots of challenges, but I will continue to encourage the security agencies; we will continue to partner to ensure peace in Delta State because it is only through sustainable peace that development can come to this state,” he stated.
