Omokri Lauds Commencement Of Sale Of Dangote Fuel

Reno Omokri has described the current contestants of the Miss Universe pageantry in Nigeria as annoying, News About Nigeria reports.

He said this in a statement via his verified handle on X on Sunday.

According to Omokri, the contestants do not represent the Nigerian culture or African race, adding that everything about them is fake, including their hair and accents.

He added that Nigeria needs women who will represent what a true Nigerian woman should look like.

Omokri urged the contestants to be themselves and let others imitate them.

The self-acclaimed Table Shaker also urged the Federal Ministry of Culture to introduce policies specifically prohibiting beauty pageant contestants from projecting physical appearances that are not in sync with the idyllic natural-beauty of Nigerian women.

He wrote, “Is it asking too much to have Miss Nigeria, Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria, or Miss Universe Nigeria contestants with their own natural hair? I am not sure it speaks well of our race, culture and nation if our beauty pageant contestants have hair from Brazil, India, Cambodia and Thailand.

“What does that say about us? That our women cannot be beautiful unless they add a foreign appurtenance to their bodies?

“The late Maryam Babangida, Onyeka Onwenu, and the living Julie Coker, Rosemary Anieze Adams, Omoni Oboli, and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie are examples of what it meant and means to be naturally Black and beautiful.

“These contestants are ALL annoying. Foreign accents, fake hair, organic complexion, etc. Some of them look like they should be contesting for (let me not say my mind). We need women who represent what a true Nigerian woman should look like.

“Look at our music and film industry. We were aping Hollywood and American music genres for years and went nowhere. But when we started audaciously being ourselves, what happened? Nigerian music became the hottest music on the planet, bar none. Look at Asake today. White Anglo-Saxons are learning Yoruba because of him.

“Today, almost all major streaming platforms offer Nigerian movies and music.

“Be yourself, and others will imitate you. Imitate them, and you desecrate yourself.

“The Federal Ministry of Culture ought to step in here and introduce policies specifically prohibiting beauty pageant contestants from projecting physical appearances that are not in sync with the idyllic natural beauty of Nigerian women.
