Tinubu Charges Military To Be Vigilant, Proactive In Addressing Security Threats

President Bola Tinubu has called on the Nigerian military to be constantly alert and take proactive measures to address security threats in the region, News About Nigeria reports.

At the graduation ceremony of Course 32 of the Nigerian Defence College in Abuja, Tinubu emphasised the need for the military to be vigilant.

He emphasised the importance of strategic leadership in tackling the numerous security challenges facing the country.

A total of 111 participants, including 19 from foreign countries, took part in the course.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, representing Tinubu, urged the participants to continue demonstrating patriotism.

The Federal Government will consider implementing the key recommendations made by the participants in their final report.

The administration has also pledged to complete the ongoing construction of the permanent site of the National Defence College.

Earlier today, President Bola Tinubu administered the oath of office to Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, formally appointing her as the 23rd Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).

This follows the retirement of Justice Olukayode Ariwoola and her nomination by the National Judicial Council (NJC) on August 15.

News About Nigeria reported that Olukayode Ariwoola retired at the age of 70.

Justice Kekere-Ekun, who assumed her position at 11:45 am, will serve in an acting capacity until her confirmation by the Senate.

Her appointment marks a significant milestone, as she becomes the second female CJN in Nigeria’s history, following in the footsteps of Justice Aloma Mariam Mukhtar.

Kekere-Ekun began her career in the judiciary as a Senior Magistrate II in the Lagos State Judiciary before being promoted to the status of State High Court Judge.
