Omokri Advocates Exit Visa for Nigerians

Special Adviser to former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has advised President Bola Tinubu to appoint northerners into some top positions in the country to avoid marginalisation, News About Nigeria reports.

He made this call in a statement via his verified handle on X on Friday.

While congratulating Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun on her swearing in as the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Omokri noted that her ascension might not augur well for the stability of a multiethnic nation like Nigeria.

He pointed out that the President, head of the Legislature, and Chief Justice are all from the southern part of Nigeria, adding that it might not sit well with the people.

Omokri, therefore, urged the President to give the Inspector General of Police and one other top slot, such as Head of Service, to the North.

He wrote, “I congratulate Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun on her ascension and swearing-in as the Chief Justice of Nigeria. However, there is a challenge. ln a multiethnic country like ours, I am not sure it augurs well for the stability of the nation for the President, who is the head of the Executive, the Senate President, who is the head of the Legislature, and the Chief Justice, who leads the Judiciary, to all come from Southern Nigeria.

“If I were a Northerner, I do not know how I would feel.

“Obviously, the choice of the Chief Justice is based on seniority. There is nothing President Tinubu can do about it. And there will be those Southerners who will say that under Buhari, the leaders of the Executive, Legislature and Judiciary, as well as the heads of the Defence Ministry, Attorney General of the Federation, Army, Police, NSA, DSS, NIA, DMI, DIA, NPS, NCS, NIS and EFCC were all simultaneously Northern Muslim men.

“But Buhari was a bad example. He failed politically and economically and is not an example anyone should follow. President Umaru Musa Yar’adua was a much better example of power sharing.

“I urge the President and his handlers to give this some thought. If, as I suspect, no changes can be made to the heads of the Legislature and Judiciary, at least let the North have the Inspector General of Police and one other top slot, such as Head of Service.

“The President should know that he has political enemies. And some of them, like Nasir El-Rufai, are EXTREMELY manipulative and have no fear of God. They will begin to work on the minds of the Northern masses with disinformation against the Tinubu administration and a so-called Southern agenda. Nasir El-Rufai is not a good political builder. But he knows how to destroy more than anybody I have ever known in my life. He is to politics what Arise TV is to the media.”
