Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has commended the colourful celebration of the Udiriko Festival in the state, describing it as a cultural legacy of the state, News About Nigeria reports.
He expressed his happiness in a statement via his verified handle on X on Thursday.
Oyebanji stated that the festival provided the opportunity for the citizens to celebrate their cultural heritage and come together as a community.
He wrote, “I had a great time at the Udiroko festival in Ado-Ekiti. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our cultural heritage and come together as a community.
“I was honoured to be joined by Deputy Senate President, Senator Jibrin Barau; Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele; and former Governor Ayo Fayose. Their presence made the event even more colorful. I also extend my gratitude to Oba Adeyemo Adejugbe and the people of Ado-Ekiti for hosting such a successful festival. It was indeed a beautiful and meaningful experience.
“The Udiroko festival serves as a reminder of the enduring cultural legacy of the Ekiti people, and it was heartening to see everyone come together to celebrate and strengthen the bonds of love and empathy that unite us. I look forward to continuing to promote our cultural values and supporting initiatives that will contribute to the socio-economic development of our state.

The festival was celebrated with a lot of fanfare and excitement, as Nollywood actors from the state, including Lateef Adedimeji, and his wife, Mo Bimpe, also graced the occasion.
