We Have No Hand In The Death Of Sokoto Emir – Miyetti Allah

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed his deep sorrow over the tragic death of Sarkin Gobir, Alhaji Isa Bawa, the District Head of Gatawa in Sabon Birni Local Government of Sokoto State, who was killed by bandits after being held captive for weeks.

Alhaji Isa Bawa and his son were abducted in July while travelling from Sokoto to Sabon Birni.

According to reports, bandits opened fire on their vehicle, causing it to crash.

This allowed the assailants to seize the Emir and his son, who was also his driver.

In a heartbreaking video released by the bandits, the Sarkin Gobir was seen pleading for his life and calling on the government for help.

Despite his desperate pleas, no effective action was taken, and the bandits ultimately executed him.

The video, along with the news of his death, was shared on social media on Wednesday by an X user known as Idris4Peace.

Reacting to the devastating news, Atiku Abubakar took to X to extend his condolences to the bereaved family, the entire Gobir Emirate, and the government of Sokoto State.

He condemned the brutal killing and highlighted the urgent need for improved security measures across the country.

“The heinous act of violence perpetrated by bandits resulting in the untimely demise of such a revered leader is a stark reminder of the pressing need for enhanced security measures in safeguarding the lives and property of citizens,” Atiku stated.

He criticised the government’s failure to respond adequately to the growing insecurity, which has led to a rise in such tragic incidents.

Atiku, who was the 2023 presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stated that the government must prioritise the safety of its citizens, ensuring that people can live without the constant fear of violence.

He stressed the importance of a security strategy that effectively protects lives and property, preventing such senseless acts of violence from continuing to occur.
