Afenifere, a prominent Yoruba socio-cultural and socio-political organisation, has expanded its leadership team with three new appointments.
News About Nigeria reports that these new officers will enhance the organisation’s operations and strengthen its presence.
The National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Jare Ajayi, announced the new appointments, which include Agbaakin Ademola Babatunde Folarin as the new Secretary General, Alagba Dare Babarinsa as the new Treasurer, and Barrister Lanre Omisore as the new Financial Secretary.
These new appointees will join existing officers, including Abagun Kole Omololu, National Organisation Secretary; Dr. Akin Onigbinde (SAN), Legal Adviser; and Comrade Jare Ajayi, National Publicity Secretary.
The appointments were made by Chief Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, OFR, National Leader of Afenifere, during a Caucus meeting at his residence in Akure, Ondo State capital, on Tuesday, August 20, 2024.
However, the Caucus ratified the appointments.
Additionally, the appointment of former Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, as Chairman of the Reconciliation Committee was also ratified.
According to Ajayi, the National Leader has the authority to appoint officers to manage the organisation’s affairs, following Afenifere’s tradition.
The new Secretary General, Folarin, is a seasoned lawyer and philanthropist with over four decades of experience.
He holds the chieftaincy title of Agbaakin Mayegun of Ibadanland and operates a law chamber in Lagos.
Alagba Babarinsa, the new treasurer, is a veteran journalist with over 40 years of experience, having worked with prominent publications like Concord newspaper and Tell magazine.
Barrister Omisore, the new Financial Secretary, is an experienced lawyer who has practiced in the United Kingdom.
The leader, Pa Fasoranti, stated that the appointments take immediate effect, according to Ajayi.
