LG Polls: Kaduna Govt Imposes No Movement Order On Saturday

The Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency has urged local governments and communities likely to experience flooding this period to remain vigilant, News About Nigeria reports.

The Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr. Usman Mazadu, gave the warning in a statement on Monday.

He noted that seven local government area communities are at risk of flooding, especially those residing along waterways, and advised them to relocate to safer, higher ground in anticipation of the peak of the rainy season.

According to him, it is necessary to bring to the attention of the communities the torrential rainfall experienced between yesterday and today that is still ongoing without abating.

He also explained that the torrential rainfall might result in the overflow of rivers, particularly those LGAs that have rivers or tributaries crossing through, and urged them to be vigilant with keen interest.

“It is important that communities within these tributaries are most likely to experience flooding; they should be informed to be vigilant while preparing for alternatives to evacuate themselves to higher and safer grounds.

“The local government area communities include the government secondary school Abubakar Kigo Road and LEA primary school Unguwan Rimi in Kaduna North Local Government Area. Namadi Sambo Skill Acquisition Centre T/Wada Kaduna and LEA primary school Nassarawa in Kaduna South Local Government Area.

“Government Secondary School Romi and Government Secondary School Narayi in Chikun Local Government Area. Jumaat mosque Hayin Malam Bello in Igabi Local Government Area.

“LEA Agwom Primary School, LEA Tsauni Primary School, LEA Sanga Village Primary School in Sanga Local Government Area, LEA Jere North Primary School, LEA Jere South Primary School in Kagarko Local Government Area, and GSS Kafanchan in Jema’a Local Government Area of the State,” he stated.
