The Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB) has announced a slight adjustment to its interview timetable for job seekers due to a scheduling conflict with Isese Day, a public holiday in Oyo State.
The interview session initially set for Tuesday, August 20, 2024, has been rescheduled to Monday, August 26, 2024.
Isese Day, celebrated annually on August 20, is dedicated to honouring Yoruba culture and traditions, as well as preserving the Yoruba heritage.
The day is significant for adherents of the Yoruba traditional religion and is observed as a public holiday in Oyo State.
In a statement released on Tuesday, OYOSUBEB Executive Chairman, Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, explained the decision to adjust the interview schedule.
He said it is important to respect cultural practices and ensure that all candidates have equal opportunities to participate in the final stage of the recruitment process.
“In view of this observation, the affected LGAs whose interviews were slated for Tuesday, August 20, 2024, have been rescheduled to Monday,” Dr. Adeniran stated.
The affected local government areas include Saki West, Saki East, Irepo, Oriire, Olorunsogo, Orelope, Ogbomoso North, and Ogbomoso South.
Dr. Adeniran called for strict compliance with the revised timetable and noted that the decision has been well-received by stakeholders who appreciate the board’s sensitivity and responsiveness.
