Nigerian music superstar Burna Boy has weighed in on the outcome of the Miss South Africa 2024 beauty pageant after Mia Le Roux was crowned the winner.
Le Roux, a white model and the first deaf person to win the title, triumphed over nine other contestants on Saturday to claim the prestigious crown.
Le Roux’s victory comes after a heated controversy involving Chidinma Adetshina, a contestant of Nigerian and Mozambican heritage, who withdrew from the competition amid a nationality row.
Adetshina’s participation had sparked criticism and questions regarding her eligibility, with some South Africans objecting to her Nigerian roots.
The situation escalated when the South African Department of Home Affairs accused Adetshina’s mother of possible fraud and identity theft.
Adetshina’s withdrawal left many Nigerians feeling aggrieved, with some accusing South Africans of targeting her due to her nationality.
In what some have described as an ironic twist, Mia Le Roux, who is a descendant of Dutch settlers in South Africa, ultimately won the competition.
Burna Boy took to social media to express his thoughts on the situation, sharing a photo of Le Roux on his X page with the caption, “So After ALL that…” followed by several laughing emojis.

In response to Adetshina’s withdrawal, the Miss Universe Nigeria organisation has extended an invitation for her to compete in the upcoming Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 pageant.
This invitation was announced in an official statement signed by Guy Murray-Bruce, the National Director of Miss Universe Nigeria.
The statement read: “We at Miss Universe Nigeria have been closely following the developments regarding your decision to bow out of the Miss South Africa beauty pageant. We acknowledge the circumstances surrounding your withdrawal and understand the challenges you may be facing.
“As a Nigerian by heritage, we would like to formally invite you to participate in the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 pageant. This is an opportunity to represent your father’s native land on an international stage, and we believe you would be an outstanding contender.”
