Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq has expressed his admiration for the citizens of the state, including the youth, for choosing to maintain peace and harmony as the nationwide hunger protests entered their second day on Friday.
This is contained in a statement issued on Friday by Rafiu Ajakaye, the Chief Press Secretary to the state governor
News About Nigeria reports that the governor said the protests have remained peaceful in the state, with no incidents reported.
The governor praised the people of Kwara for resisting the temptation to repeat past mistakes and instead opting for a peaceful approach.
He emphasised the importance of preserving the state’s harmony, stating that it is the only home they have and should be protected from violence, harm, and destruction.
Abdulrazaq commended the wisdom of the people, both young and old, who have chosen to engage positively and prioritise safety, peace, and harmony.
He expressed his gratitude and blessings to the citizens, acknowledging their role in maintaining the state’s peaceful atmosphere.
“I am again proud of every Kwaran today. The peace in the state is a true reflection of who we are, and we should continue along that path. This is our state, the only one we have; we should not do anything that may bring violence, hurt one another, or lead to loss of lives and property. We do not need it,” he said.
“I wholeheartedly acknowledge the wisdom of our people, old and young, who have chosen the viable option of positive engagement, safety, peace, and harmony. God bless you all,” the governor said.
