The Kano State chapter of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has taken measures to guarantee a peaceful and secure environment for the forthcoming protests in the state.
News About Nigeria reports that the planned protest, scheduled to begin on August 1, is a response to the country’s economic challenges and is being led by young people.
In preparation for the planned demonstrations, the Corps has mobilised a substantial force of 3,400 personnel to provide comprehensive security coverage for participants.
Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the State Commandant, Mohammad Falala, revealed that the deployed personnel would ensure a secure atmosphere before, during, and after the protests across various locations in the state.
The commandant stated that the Corps has implemented stringent measures to safeguard the lives and property of residents, enabling them to exercise their right to peaceful protest without fear of intimidation or harm.
“To achieve this objective, the NSCDC is collaborating closely with other security agencies to prevent any potential crises during the protests, both within and outside the metropolitan area,” he said.
Commandant Falala disclosed that a comprehensive operational order has been issued to Area Commanders and Divisional Officers across the 44 Local Government Areas (LGAs) to provide robust security at strategic public locations, including markets, banks, places of worship, recreation centers, and motor parks.
The commandant reassured law-abiding residents of their safety, stating that an adequate number of security personnel had been deployed to cover the protests.
However, he sternly warned that any actions capable of causing chaos or disrupting public order during the protests would not be tolerated.
Falala mentioned that people who disobey orders or engage in disruptive behavior would be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.
