The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdurosheed Akanbi, has urged President Bola Tinubu to steer Nigeria towards a renewed spiritual awakening, stating that it is important to recognise God’s supreme authority, News About Nigeria reports.
During a gathering held by the Iwo Muslim Community at his palace, Oba Akanbi pointed out that many of Nigeria’s challenges are self-inflicted.
The monarch stated that Nigerians have complicated their spiritual lives by blending cultural practices with religious beliefs, which he believes has brought misfortune to the nation.
He called on President Tinubu to guide the country’s leaders back to a firm reliance on God to foster national prosperity.
“There is a curse on Nigeria and this is more spiritual. People are mixing our beautiful culture and tradition with religion. The president must lead other leaders of the nation back to God, affirm His supremacy, and Nigeria will prosper.
“So far, the president has good intentions, he must resigned back to God. He has come to serve the people but it is only God that will make it easy for him. Tinubu must hold unto God. The President and Governor must not be confused, they should not seek rival for God. No builder can build a house without God. They should not mind idol worshippers.”
Oba Akanbi assured that if the president firmly believed in God, it would prevent youth protests.
“With a strong faith in God, the president’s good intentions will succeed, and there will be no grounds for protests,” he stated.
Professor Musliu Yahaya, Secretary of the Muslim Ummah Southwest, also spoke at the event, urging Nigerians to practice their faiths freely and without intimidation.
He stressed that a return to God is essential for resolving Nigeria’s complex issues, suggesting that only through divine intervention can the nation overcome its current challenges.
