Zamfara To Commence LG Election Soon, says Governor

The Zamfara state government says it is yet to receive the 20 trucks of rice allocated by the federal government.

News About Nigeria reports that this was disclosed by Comrade Nuhu Salisu Anka, the director general of media and communication to the state governor, in a telephone interview with newsmen in Gusau, the state capital, on Saturday.

According to him, the federal government had earlier announced the dispatch of the consignments to state governments.

“Zamfara State is yet to receive its allocation of 20 trucks of rice, which was approved by the Federal Government,” he added.

He stated that when the consignments arrive, he will ensure that journalists are notified about the arrival of the allocation to Zamfara State.

Recall that the federal government said on Monday that it had dispatched 20 trucks of rice to each of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The move is part of measures to ease the food crisis and the economic burden on Nigerians.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this to State House correspondents at the end of the Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, on Monday.

Idris, who appealed to state governors to ensure equitable distribution of the rice to those who need it the most, said each state and the FCT had received 20 trucks containing 1,200 bags of 25 kg of rice.

The FG had also called for increased compliance with the CNG initiative “to reduce our over-reliance on PMS and this will in turn also aid our energy transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy.”
