The Federal Government has announced the next phase of recruitment for the Federal Fire Service (FFS) under the Ministry of Interior, set to begin in August, News About Nigeria reports.
Ja’afaru Ahmed, Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board, made the announcement in a statement released yesterday.
Ahmed stated, “The Board will initiate the next stage of the recruitment exercise in August and aims to conclude the process by the end of September.”
He also apologized for the delay in completing the recruitment process by the initially planned date of June 15.
The delay was attributed to a nationwide manpower audit recently conducted in the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Federal Fire Service (FFS), and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
“All shortlisted candidates will be notified of the next stage through their phone numbers and email addresses,” Ahmed added.
In related news, Comptroller General of the Immigration Service (CGIS) Kemi Nandap has urged service personnel to uphold high standards of decorum and transparency in their duties.
This call to action was made during the launch of a two-day sensitization and enlightenment program titled “Mitigating Corruption and Improving Service Delivery in the NIS” at the Passport Office in Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
Nandap, represented by the Special Adviser on the Anti-Corruption Unit, DCI Florence Lairan, emphasised the importance of delivering services at the advertised fees without hidden charges.
She said that corruption extends beyond embezzlement to include extortion and deliberate delays aimed at coercing applicants into making unofficial payments.
