The man of the moment, Davido, told Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, on Tuesday that he would be part of next year’s Ojude Oba Festival.

The Afrobeats singer said this while exchanging pleasantries with the governor at his wedding today (Tuesday, June 25, 2024) in Lagos State.

Speaking in a now-viral video on social media, the “Assurance” crooner is seen excitedly telling the Ogun state governor that he loves the festival and would be part of it next year.

News About Nigeria recalls that this year’s Ojude Oba festival went viral after beautiful pictures from the event emerged on social media.

The pictures had left many wondering what the festival was all about with cancer survivor and Managing Director of NG Clearing, Farooq Oreagba, capturing the hearts of many with his unique and stylish look at the event.

The Ojude Oba festival is celebrated by the Yoruba people of Ijebu-Ode, a major town in Ogun State, southwestern Nigeria.

This annual festival usually takes place the third day after Eid el-Kabir to pay homage and show respect to the Royal Majesty, the Awujale of Ijebuland.

Like many Nigerians, Davido, who was intrigued by the beauty of the culture displayed at this year’s Ojude Oba festival, has indicated interest in attending next year.

The Ogun State governor is one of the southwest governors who attended Davido’s wedding, as Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and Davido’s uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, were also present at the event.

Other dignitaries like the former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo; the former Akwa-Ibom state governor, Emmanuel Udom; the son of President Bola Tinubu, Seyi Tinubu, and the Ooni of Ife, among others, were also present at the wedding, which is the talk of the town.
