Tinubu To Enhance Economic Ties Between Nigeria, South Africa

President Bola Tinubu has stated that he is committed to enhancing the economic ties between Nigeria and South Africa, News About Nigeria reports. 

The president made this known in a statement via his verified handle on X on Thursday.

Recall that President Bola Tinubu attended the inauguration of the President of South Africa, President Cyril Ramaphosa, in Pretoria on Wednesday.

He also met with the newly inaugurated president on Thursday in a bilateral meeting.

Tinubu disclosed that the discussions of the meeting were focused on strengthening cooperation and enhancing the economic ties between Nigeria and South Africa, adding that they intend to work together to address the challenges of both countries.

According to him, they will be engaging in robust trade and economic strategies to ensure that both countries have increased prosperity and unity.

He further commended President Ramaphosa for the warm welcome, dedication, and mutual respect he showed him, stressing that it was an indicator of the depth of their relationship.

“I had the honour of attending President Cyril Ramaphosa’s inauguration in Pretoria yesterday, and today I met with him for a bilateral meeting. Our discussions focused on strengthening cooperation and enhancing the economic ties between Nigeria and South Africa.

“President Ramaphosa’s warm welcome and dedication to mutual respect and cooperation reflect the depth of our relationship. We intend working together to address our countries’ challenges through robust trade and economic strategies, and I am hopeful that we can lead our nations towards increased prosperity and unity.

“Looking forward to collaborating at this crucial juncture for the progress of our continent,” he stated.
