Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has pledged to capture those responsible for the abduction of the Fouani brothers.
News About Nigeria reported that the Lebanese siblings were rescued by the police on Tuesday, and the governor has assured the public that justice will be served.
Sanwo-Olu made this commitment during a meeting with the leadership of the Baptist Convention, led by its African President, Rev. (Dr.) Israel Akanbi, at Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja, on Wednesday.
The governor recounted his visit with the freed brothers at their Banana Island residence and expressed regret that such an incident occurred.
Contrary to earlier reports, Sanwo-Olu clarified that the abduction did not happen in Marina but on the high seas.
He assured that state authorities and security operatives are diligently working to track down those responsible.
“Lagos will not condone such criminality,” Sanwo-Olu declared. “We are on top of it, security operatives are combing everywhere.”
The governor said efforts are being made to maintain peace in Lagos, attributing the success to enhanced security measures.
He assured the Baptist Convention leaders that the state would provide a safe and welcoming environment for their upcoming annual gathering at the EkoLagos Hotel and Suites in July 2024.
“We will support you so that your visitors will have a long-lasting experience in Lagos,” Sanwo-Olu assured.
He also called on religious leaders to collaborate with the government to enhance governance and ensure effective communication.
Rev. Akanbi praised the governor and his administration for maintaining peace and addressing the challenges posed by the recent fuel subsidy removal.
He expressed confidence that the international delegates attending the convention would have a positive experience in Lagos.
