President Bola Tinubu experienced a brief slip while boarding the presidential parade vehicle at the 2024 Democracy Day celebration held at Eagles Square in Abuja on Wednesday.
News About Nigeria reports that the incident occurred as President Tinubu approached the vehicle shortly after arriving at the venue.
Despite momentarily losing his footing, he quickly regained his balance and proceeded with the programme without further issues.

Dada Olusegun, Special Adviser to the President on Social Media, addressed concerns over the incident, stating that it was a minor misstep.
In a post on his X handle, Olusegun stated, “Mr President missed his step while climbing into the truck at the June 12 Democracy Day celebration and tripped. It was a mild misstep. He immediately went on with the ceremonial rounds. No issues.”
The Democracy Day event continued smoothly, with President Tinubu delivering his address and participating in the scheduled activities as planned.
As Nigeria celebrates 25 years of uninterrupted democracy, News About Nigeria reports that President Tinubu also vowed to protect the rights and freedoms of Nigerian citizens.
While congratulating the nation on the celebration of its silver jubilee for practicing uninterrupted democracy, the president pledged to do whatever is necessary to cement democracy as the country’s way of life.
He noted that, no matter how complicated democracy may be, it is the best form of governance in the long run.
He, however, urged the people not to be ignorant of those who will try to exploit current challenges to undermine, if not destroy, this democracy for which so much has already been given, adding that no chance should be given to them, as doing this is one of the main reasons for the celebration of democracy.
The president also stated that the reforms his administration has initiated are necessary as they are intended to create a stronger, better foundation for future growth.
