APC To Obi: Stop Spreading Misinformation, Focus On Constructive Criticism

Former Anambra governor Peter Obi has expressed sympathy for President Bola Tinubu following an incident where Tinubu slipped and fell from his presidential vehicle during the Democracy Day ceremony at Eagle Square, Abuja.

News About Nigeria reports that on Wednesday, Tinubu missed his steps and fell while climbing the parade vehicle at Eagle Square in Abuja.

The president momentarily lost his footing but quickly regained his balance with support from his aide-de-camp (ADC).

In reaction, the Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 general election wished Tinubu well, adding that he was saddened to learn of the incident.

He slammed those gloating over the fall, stating that it could have happened to anyone.

Peter Obi tweeted, “I was saddened to learn of President Tinubu’s unfortunate fall today. I wish him well. We achieve nothing by gloating about an accident that could well happen to any of us.

“We are all human beings and, while we profoundly disagree on how to move Nigeria forward, we must remember our common human frailty. Let us stay focused on the issues that will lead to a new Nigeria.

“May this moment serve as a poignant reminder of our shared humanity and the need for compassion, empathy, and unity in our pursuit of a brighter future for our great nation.”

Meanwhile, the Presidency has defended Tinubu amidst reactions to his fall at Eagles Square on Democracy Day.

In a post on his X page, Bayo Onanuga, special adviser on information and strategy, to President Bola Tinubu, said his principal is not a superman, adding that he’s like other human beings.

Onanuga recounted that President Joe Biden of the United States and former President Barack Obama once slipped.

The presidential aide said Tinubu’s slip should not distract Nigerians from the importance of the Democracy Day celebration.
