Democracy Day Fall: Tinubu Is Okay, Only Missed His Step - Presidential Aide

On Wednesday, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, debunked news making the rounds that the President fell during the Democracy Day celebration at the Eagles Square in Abuja because he is sick and too old.

According to the presidential aide, the fall was not in any way related to such claims, as the president only slipped briefly while boarding the presidential parade vehicle at Eagles Square.

He further noted that it was only a “mild misstep,” as the president was able to immediately get up and continue with his assignment during the celebration.

“Mr President missed his step while climbing into the truck at the June 12 Democracy Day celebration and tripped. It was a mild misstep. He immediately went on with the ceremonial rounds. No issues,” Olusegun wrote on his official X account.

He further tasked naysayers who are insisting that the President is not fit for the job to quit spreading false narratives about the President, as Tinubu is strong and healthy and has proven to be capable of piloting the affairs of the nation.

News About Nigeria reports that the presidential aide’s statement follows a now-viral video that contained the moment the president momentarily lost his footing while stepping into the vehicle.

In the video, despite the slip, the president was able to quickly regain his balance and continue with the proceedings.

The ceremony at Eagles Square was a flagship event in a roster of festivities held across the nation to commemorate the country’s annual Democracy Day celebration.
