Ex-Lawmakers Lament Neglect, Tasks Tinubu To Come To Their Aid

President Bola Tinubu is set to remove ministers who do not meet the performance targets set for them, according to the Presidency in an exclusive interview with Punch.

Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President, revealed in an exclusive interview with Sunday Punch that Tinubu has communicated a firm directive to his ministers to achieve the goals outlined in his administration’s eight-point agenda, News About Nigeria reports.

While the President has not yet made final decisions regarding the ministers’ performances, Onanuga said that he has been clear about his expectations.

Onanuga stated that those who fall short of these expectations will be dismissed from the cabinet.

As the administration approaches its first anniversary, Onanuga rated its performance highly, awarding it a score of 70 percent.

He said progress has been made since President Tinubu assumed office, particularly in stabilising the nation’s economy.

He attributed the administration’s success to the implementation of bold economic policies, such as the removal of the fuel subsidy and the unification of the exchange rate.

He said these measures have steered Nigeria away from the brink of economic collapse.

Meanwhile, the media adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Paul Ibe, has stated that there is nothing to celebrate about the past year of Tinubu’s administration.

In an interview with newsmen, he maintained that the past year has been a total waste.

Ibe noted that the past year has been all about propaganda by the All Progressive Congress (APC), adding that if there was anything tangible, it would be visible in the lives of Nigerians.

He maintained that all that has been visible in the past year is the shattered hopes of the people and the renewed hopelessness that has continued under the Buhari-led administration.

He stated that all the promises of the president have gone unfulfilled, and he maintained that the promise to fix the battered economy he inherited from his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari, has gone unfulfilled 12 months down the line.
