Military Declares Halilu Buzu Wanted For Terrorist Activities

The military has declared Halilu Buzu wanted for his involvement in terrorist activities, illegal arms supplies, illegal mining, and cattle rustling, News About Nigeria reports.

The announcement was made by Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, during the bi-weekly media briefing in Abuja.

Halilu Buzu, an indigene of Niger, resides in a forest in Zamfara State and frequently escapes to the Niger Republic after conducting operations in Nigeria.

General Buba stated that the military is collaborating with counterparts in the Niger Republic to ensure Buzu’s arrest, noting that he commands a significant number of operatives.

In addition to the hunt for Buzu, Major General Buba pointed out recent successes in the military’s operations.

Over the past two weeks, troops have rescued a total of 253 kidnapped victims.

This achievement was credited to the efforts of Troops of Operations Y-Watch, the Troops of Nokia-Fighting Patrols, and the Troops of Operations Delta State.

The military’s offensive against insurgents continues to yield results, with 227 terrorists neutralised and 529 arrested in the same period.

Additionally, eleven perpetrators of oil theft were apprehended.

“We relentlessly target these categories of terrorists such that we will be able to take them out and take them off the battlefield as soon as possible,” Buba stated. “Soon, the fate of such terrorists will be decided. It will be violent and it will be short, and we will stop at nothing to take them off the battlefield.”

Buba stated that the fight against terrorism is one that must be won.
