The Rivers State House of Assembly, loyal to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, screened and confirmed Dagogo Iboroma as Commissioner-designate on Monday.
The commissioner-designate was screened and confirmed by the lawmakers led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Victor Oko-Jumbo, at the hallowed chambers inside the Rivers State Government House, Port Harcourt.
Dagogo, who was confirmed by the lawmakers today, is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
Confirming Iboroma as commissioner-designate is the first official responsibility to be undertaken by Oko-Jumbo since he became the Speaker of the factional Rivers State Assembly loyal to Fubara.
News About Nigeria gathered that people in the state are speculating that Iboroma would be sworn into office by Governor Fubara later today as the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice of the state to take over from Professor Zaccheus Adangor (SAN).
The speculation is because Iboroma was nominated by Fubara following the resignation of Adangor from the Rivers State Cabinet on April 24, 2024.
According to Adangor, he chose to leave the Rivers state government in order to preserve his reputation.
He had also accused Governor Fubara of interfering with his duties as the Attorney General of the state, alleging that the governor had directed him not to defend or oppose suits filed against the Attorney-General and the Government of Rivers State by individuals sponsored by the state government.
Adangor is a loyalist of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, and the immediate past governor of the state, Nyesom Wike.
Before his resignation last month, he had first resigned his office last December but was later restored to his position following the peace agreement reached during President Bola Tinubu’s intervention in the crisis that rocked the state.
