Reps To Investigate Death Of Four-Year-Old Abuja Pupil

The family of Miguel Ovoke, the four-year-old pupil of BrickHall School in Abuja who died during feeding hours in the school, has called for privacy as they mourn the untimely demise of their son.

The family made the call during the burial of Miguel today (Friday) at Gudu Cemetery in Abuja.

News About Nigeria reported that Miguel died on April 24, 2024 when he choked on a piece of meat during lunch at school.

Speaking after the burial of their child, the Ovoke family noted that there will be no further protests or grievances against the school.

According them, this is because the school also played their part to save Miguel.

In a joint statement between the family and BrickHall school, the family revealed that it will set up an educational foundation to preserve late Miguel’s memory.

They further noted that the foundation will provide scholarships for indigent students in honour of Miguel.

On its part, the school, disclosed that to mourn Miguel, it will immortalise him by naming the early years resource room at BrickHall School after him.

BrickHall school further pledged its support to the ‘Miguel Ovoke foundation,’ disclosing that it would award scholarships to selected under-privileged children.

The statement partly reads, “To preserve the memory of our son, Miguel Ovoke, the family will set up an educational foundation that will provide scholarships for indigent students in honour of Miguel. Brickhall School has decided to immortalize Miguel Ovoke by naming the early years Resource Room at Brickhall School in the memory of Miguel Ovoke.

“Brickhall School will support the Miguel Ovoke foundation by granting scholarships to selected under-privileged children, in memory of Miguel Ovoke. The Ovoke family wishes to inform the public that the privacy of the family be respected as they continue to grieve and heal and there should be no further protests or grievances against Brickhall School.”
