Ekiti Police Nab Eight Suspected Cultists At EKSU

The Ekiti State Police Command has apprehended eight suspected cult members at the Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, News About Nigeria reports.

The arrest, which occurred on Tuesday, followed a distress call received by the command.

According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu, the distress call indicated that some individuals suspected to be members of the Buccaneer Confraternity Alora Sea Lord secret cult group were engaging in activities that could potentially lead to a breach of peace on the campus of EKSU.

In response, the command deployed its Rapid Response Squad to the scene.

As a result, eight suspected cult members were successfully apprehended.

Among the exhibits recovered from the arrested suspects were two yellow fez caps bearing the Buccaneer Confraternity Alora Sea Lord secret cult logo, along with an inscription reading “Santa Barbara Love Victory and Perfection.”

During the operation, some members of the fleeing gang reportedly fired gunshots at the armoured personnel carrier conveying the RRS operatives, damaging the windscreen in the process.

Identified as Onifade Akinsola (400L Political Science), Olatunde David (400L Computer Science), Omoboyowa Olabode (400L Political Science), Daniel Oluwagbenga (300L Accounting), Adeleke Tolani (300L Sociology), Andrew Ochuko (300L Sociology), Bamiduro Olawale (a CarryOver Student of Political Science), and Adelakun Omoniyi (a 2023 graduate), these individuals were taken into custody.

However, efforts are ongoing to apprehend these individuals and recover any weapons they may possess.

This development comes in the wake of heightened concerns over cult-related activities in tertiary institutions.

Just a fortnight ago, two students of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, fell victim to cult-related violence outside the university premises.

The Edo State Police Command confirmed that some suspects allegedly involved in the incident had been arrested, with investigations ongoing.
