Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, has assured Nigerians that the President Tinubu-led government will fix the current economic challenges bedevilling the nation, News About Nigeria reports.
According to him, this is because the current administration is working tirelessly to ensure that they fix the economy.
In a statement on Sunday, Akpabio accused the embattled former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, of creating a very big hole in the national treasury.
Akpabio described the current economy as “foamy,” adding that there is a lot of work to be done by the Tinubu-led government.
He also noted that, though this current leadership does not like to go the way of the blame game, they have to be sincere to the people about the loopholes that Tinubu met, which are slowing down the impact of his economic reforms.
Akpabio said that though his earlier remarks on Emefiele being the major culprit responsible for the failure of the economy had drawn various arguments and Emefiele taking him to court, he still maintained his position that Emefiele was the cause of the current economic hardship.
“I still stand by my position despite the court case,” Akpabio noted.
Expressing optimism and confidence in the economy bouncing back stronger, Akpabio noted that though Tinubu inherited a battered economy, he has what it takes to rebuild the economy and put it back on the trajectory of growth.
He further noted that this is not the first time Tinubu is building from scratch, as he did so as governor of Lagos State, making Lagos one of the most buoyant economies in Africa.
