Congresses: PDP Shifts Sale Of Forms Deadline

The entire executive committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Item Ward C, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, has resigned.

News About Nigeria reports that the mass resignation was announced through a letter addressed to the chairman of the PDP in Bende and copied to the state and acting national chairmen of the party.

According to the ward chairman, Francis Eke Okoye, the primary reason for their departure is the deep-seated issues within the party’s national leadership.

The executives expressed their dismay at the “activities and disorderliness” at the national level, which they felt compromised the party’s integrity and objectives.

In a surprising twist, the executives have declared their support for Rt. Hon. Cosmos Ndukwe, a former presidential aspirant of the PDP who recently resigned from the party.

The letter stated that they have “overt confidence and support” for Ndukwe and are resigning in solidarity with their leader.

The executives thanked the local government, state, and national leadership for the opportunity to serve but cited the need to stand with their leader in the face of perceived chaos within the party’s national leadership.

Recall that there have been calls for the resignation of Umar Damagun as the party’s acting national chairman.

In reaction, Damagun said that the ongoing struggle for power within the party is not a matter of life or death for him. The Northern politician in April successfully held onto his position amidst attempts to remove him.

This followed the decision of the National Caucus of the PDP, to extend his stay.

Damagun, previously the PDP National Deputy Chairman (North), stepped into the role of acting National Chairman following a court decision to suspend the former chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.
