Renowned singer and activist, Charly Boy, has sounded the alarm over alleged plans by the President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government to arrest Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, for his persistent criticism of the administration.
Charly Boy warned that any attempt to arrest or charge Obi would be met with unprecedented resistance, News About Nigeria reports.
He urged the government to exercise caution to avoid setting the nation ablaze.
In a social media post, Charly Boy wrote: “There’s a report of an attempt of arrest on Peter Obi, by Tinubu’s Government over Peter Obi’s consistent refusal to back down on calling Tinubu out towards good governance and accountability. Any arrest or charges against Obi must be met with a resistance as never seen in the history of Nigeria before, and the Obidients are ready for it. Tinubu’s government must trend with caution not to set this nation on fire with an illegal arrest of HE Peter Obi. We call on Tinubu’s government to desist from her evil plans against Peter Obi because Nigeria will not remain the same.”
Charly Boy’s warning comes amid criticisms by Obi, who has been vocal in his demands for good governance and accountability.
Recently, Obi hit back at the Federal Government over allegations of incitement, following his criticism of the trillions of Naira Coastal Highway Project.
Obi maintained his stance that the project is not a priority for Nigeria.
He said the allegations is a divisive attempt to distract from the real issues.
He warned that the project would lead to job losses, increased hunger, and widespread poverty in a country already facing significant challenges.
Obi has instead encouraged the need to prioritise internal roads to stimulate economic growth.
